The short version: you must be 17 or older, use your real first name and your own photos, and treat people well. We have zero tolerance for objectionable content or abusive users. Report or block anyone who breaks the rules, and we'll act on it.
1. About these terms
UniLinked is an app that helps students who are applying to, admitted to or going to a college find roommates and friends. It is operated by Max Marcus ("UniLinked", "we", "us"). These Terms of Use and our Community Guidelines are an agreement between you and us. By creating an account or using UniLinked, you agree to them. If you don't agree, don't use UniLinked.
2. Who can use UniLinked
- You must be at least 17 years old. We check this when you sign up, and we delete accounts that belong to anyone younger.
- You may have only one account, and it must be yours. Don't create an account for someone else.
- You can't use UniLinked if we've previously banned you, or if the law where you live doesn't allow it.
3. Your account
Keep your password private and your sign-in details accurate. You're responsible for what happens on your account. Tell us at [email protected] if you think someone else has used it.
4. School pages aren't verified
You choose which school pages to join and whether you're applying, admitted or committed. We don't currently check this with schools, and UniLinked isn't affiliated with or endorsed by any college or university. Don't rely on someone's listed status, and use your own judgment before sharing personal information, agreeing to live with someone, or meeting in person.
5. Your content
Your profile, photos and the other things you add ("your content") stay yours. To run UniLinked, you give us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to store, copy, resize and show your content to other students on the school pages you join, for as long as it's on UniLinked. This license ends when you delete the content or your account, except for copies in reports we keep for safety records.
You confirm that you have the right to share your content, that your photos are of you or that you have permission to post them, and that your content follows these terms and our Community Guidelines.
6. Zero tolerance for objectionable content and abusive users
You may not post or send anything that is harassing, hateful, sexual or nude, violent, threatening, illegal, misleading, spam, or that shares someone else's private information. You may not impersonate anyone or use UniLinked to sell things, recruit for businesses or scrape data. The Community Guidelines explain this in more detail.
We may remove content and suspend or permanently ban accounts that break these rules, with or without warning.
7. Reporting and blocking
You can report or block anyone from their profile. Reporting someone also blocks them. We review reports and aim to act on them within 24 hours, by removing content, suspending accounts, or both. Blocking hides you and the other person from each other everywhere on UniLinked.
8. Links to other apps
Profiles can include Instagram and Snapchat usernames. Those services have their own terms and privacy policies, and we aren't responsible for what happens there.
9. Deleting your account, and ending these terms
You can delete your account anytime in the app under Me, then Delete account. We may suspend or end your access if you break these terms or if we need to for legal or safety reasons. Sections 5 (for content in safety records), 10, 11 and 13 continue after your account ends.
10. Disclaimers
UniLinked is provided "as is" and "as available." We don't run background checks and don't guarantee the identity, intentions or behavior of any user, or that UniLinked will always be available or error-free. To the fullest extent the law allows, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied.
11. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, UniLinked won't be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for any loss arising from your use of UniLinked or your interactions with other users, on or off the app. Our total liability for any claim is limited to $100. Some places don't allow these limits, so they may not apply to you.
12. Changes
We may update these terms. If a change is important, we'll ask you to accept the new terms in the app before you keep using UniLinked.
13. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Florida, United States, without regard to its conflict of law rules, and any dispute will be handled in the state or federal courts located in Miami-Dade County, Florida, unless the law where you live requires otherwise.
14. Apple
If you downloaded UniLinked from the App Store, these terms are between you and us, not Apple. Apple isn't responsible for UniLinked or its content, has no obligation to provide support for it, and is a third-party beneficiary of these terms with the right to enforce them against you.
